Collaborative Working & Online Communities

The software that is available to enable collaborative working (supporting people in their individual and cooperative work) range from productivity software (such as Office suites), through communication software (such as Instant Messaging, email), to enterprise software to support team sharing and workflow (such as IBM Workplace). Increasingly, new methods that can be used for collaborative working are emerging from the online community arena (the so-called Web 2.0) such as content posting, collaborative tagging, blogs, wikis, syndication feeds and multimedia conferencing.

Aspects researched include:

  • mining of community interactions to create semantic models;
  • knowledge based routing to enable collaborative working;
  • community based policy management for online communities;
  • personalised trust models in collaborative communities.
